About the role

Position Overview

This position reports to the Director, Athletics Communications, but will also work heavily with the Assistant Sports Information Director, student workers in the athletics communications office, as well as athletics administrators, coaches and student-athletes. This person will help contribute to overall fan engagement and experience, rated through customer service reviews and assist with the successful execution of home games and special events

Responsibilities

  • Administrative tasks related to the internal, external, development, and communications segments of the department
  • Game day operations - help putting on the best game day experience for fans in every facet of the building
  • This individual performs the role of an internal beat reporter, focusing on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics or other innovative formats.
  • Generating and overseeing the distribution of record books/media guides, news articles and short-form video, stats and social media interactions. 
  • Responsible for developing external media relationships and managing media requests for assigned sports as well as managing gameday media relations duties including statistics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to take initiative and learn.
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills along with strong customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, collaboratively and within a team structure.
  • Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Office, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Maintain confidentiality and attention to detail
