Assumed Reinsurance Claim Handler

Chubb invites applicants for the position of Assumed Reinsurance Claim Handler for its Brandywine Group of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies, the group within Chubb which handles the majority of Chubb’s run-off books of business. The successful applicant will be a key contributor to Brandywine’s assumed reinsurance department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reviewing claim facts and treaty/certificate language to analyze and appropriately determine coverage position
• Conducting claim investigations, obtaining required documents, maintain electronic files and complying with all policies and procedures, as directed
• Evaluating claims for appropriate reserve/payment and effectively presenting recommendations to senior management
• Drafting coverage letters
• Preparing required paperwork to make accurate payments and financial transactions
• Ensure that claim information is accurately entered into the claim processing system
• Working with counsel/arbitrators on disputed assumed and retroceded claims and preparing and presenting accurate and timely information to management
• Respond to requests for information from management and retros

Qualifications 

• 4-year college degree and at least some experience or familiarity with long tail claims, either direct, ceded or assumed; or 5 years’ experience in handling reinsurance claims.
• Some experience interpreting and analyzing insurance contracts.
• Significant knowledge of Excel and data management tools
• Strong analytical, oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
