Associate / Staff Python Developer

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Python Software Developer in Dayton, OH, to support programs focusing on missile defense missions. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Python, thrive as part of a rapidly paced, collaborative, small-team environment consisting of Scientists, Engineers, and Developers, and be able to prototype, develop, integrate, and test advanced software solutions.  

Responsibilities 

• Work independently and with a team to develop high-quality software features aligned to project objectives

• Assist in containerization, testing, and deployment of software for delivery to customers 

• Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in the computer science or engineering
• Strong proficiency in Python 
• Demonstrable understanding of principles related to software engineering 
• Commitment to quality in code and software engineering practices 
• Familiarity with design patterns, optimization, and performance 
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance 
• Good verbal and written communication skills 

• Familiarity with microservice architectures  
• Background in statistics 
• Detail oriented 
• Good verbal and written communication skills 

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred 

• An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science 
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as protobuf, ZMQ, Kafka, gRPC, REST APIs 
• Professional experience with DevOps processes and tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Gitlab-CI/CD 
• Experience with PostgreSQL,
• Active DoD security clearance

The pay range for this position is $74,000-$106,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
