iData/Data Governance - Associate Scientist - (Specialty Chemical Data Steward)

The primary responsibility of this role will be to use chemistry knowledge to facilitate data collection from raw material manufacturers for polymers and botanical/natural substances as required by safety and regulatory. This also includes materials with more sophisticated characteristics such as PMCs (perfume microcapsules) as well as enzymes.

Extraordinary attention to detail is essential as is proficient communication, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate is able to critically evaluate supplier material descriptions, chemical identification and other supplier data to develop a data package for evaluation by the regulatory and safety functions within GPS.

Job Qualifications

  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills: will effectively lead the collection of data for multiple materials simultaneously, efficiently, and reliably. The data collection process sometimes includes an investigation into the materials provided by a raw material manufacturer to extract the data items and/or phone interview.

  • Outstanding Communication Skills: the successful candidate will effectively communicate data needs to the manufacturers, working with Sector GPS on refining data needs. Communicate clearly and efficiently with global manufacturers, data steward team, and sector GPS. Time is always a factor in gathering polymer / botanical/natural substance material data and effective communication reduces the amount of time for gathering the required data. Outstanding communication skills to reduce the time it takes to collect and present the data.

  • Collaboration: Proven the ability to form effective and collaborative relationships, internal and external to their organization. They will be able to collaborate, communicate, and operate across function, global regions, and managerial or technical levels.

  • Proficiency in Following and Developing Cross-Functional Work Processes: the work performed is detailed in a work process with the right level of documentation. The defined data items required for various product applications will be detailed and maintained in the work process. The candidate will help to refine processes and update the document as appropriate.

  • Chemistry: possesses a strong chemistry knowledge and application thereof. Preferred but not required: experience with polymers/botanicals, organic chemistry, use of SciFinder, and experience with the GPS System PASS.

  • Skills required: Effective Communication (listening, written, verbal), Accurate Data Entry, Effective Time Management, Attention to Detail, Fast Learner, Teammate
