Position Description:

The University of Louisville is recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with subspecialty certification in critical care to join its Cardiovascular Critical Care Division. The Intensivists lead the multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team at the University of Louisville – Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This 17-bed unit houses critically ill cardiac surgical patients, critically ill patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease. The CVICU team is comprised of physicians, non-physician providers, and dedicated nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post-graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and interest of the candidate. The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care is housed in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The multidisciplinary design of the Department engenders a collaborative relationship between its critical care and surgical members.

Louisville, Kentucky is a medium-sized city with a small-town feel. The city is home to a beautiful park system, high-level collegiate and professional sports, and multiple venues showcasing musical and visual arts. While well-known for bourbon, the culinary arts scene is equally top-notch as Louisville is consistently ranked a top foodie town. Outdoor adventures are easily accessible, including hiking, climbing, rafting, and exploring one of the many caves nearby. Several large cities are within easy driving distance and the international airport offers convenient access to bring the world closer to home.
