Description
The Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) seeks a full-time board-certified Psychiatrist to serve as the facility Associate Medical Director and to help lead our thriving state operated community outpatient mental health clinic dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality mental health services to the residents of the Commonwealth. We are seeking a highly qualified and visionary Associate Medical Director to lead our outpatient clinical team and drive excellence in mental healthcare services. As an affiliate of Harvard Medical School (HMS) through our partnership with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry, an academic appointment will be commensurate with HMS appointment criteria and candidate qualifications. Duties and Responsibilities (These duties are a general summary and are not all inclusive):
- Directs psychiatric services in the outpatient clinic by assuming clinical responsibility for the psychiatric care as needed for MMHC clients.
- Under the guidance of the Medical Director organizes and assigns the Physician and NP Staff to provide efficient and effective patient care at the Center. In collaboration with the Medical Director and Director for Clinic Services provides teaching and supervision to staff in a setting that supports continuing medical education, adherence to professional and ethical standards, collegial interaction, and professional development.
- Establishes measurable performance expectations (productivity, quality of care, timely completion of medical records and patient care, charting and other administrative duties, etc.), provides supervision, coaching, counseling.
- Evaluates staff performance and implements corrective measures and if necessary, implements progressive discipline measures in conjunction with the facility Medical Director, Center Director, and vendor.
- Directly supervises all reporting staff with regular record reviews.
- Meets with all MMHC outpatient MD’s and NP’s on a regular basis with focus on documentation, appropriate psychopharmacological and clinical interventions.
- Meets with all direct reports as a group and/or individually at least once per month. Frequency and setting dependent on staff need.
- Develops a monitoring tool for the above and reports to the Medical Director on a weekly basis regarding clinical and administrative progress/challenges.
- Assists the facility Medical Director in the recruitment and retention of highly qualified MD and NP staff.
- Oversees the evaluation, credentialing, and delineation of clinical privileges for all clinical staff.
- Ensures MD coverage throughout MMHC system of care and provides direct care to clients as necessary. Ensures DOC (Doctor on Call) and COC (clinician on call) coverage for the Center including all outpatient clinic teams.
