Summary:

The Associate Director of Undergraduate Career Development is responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of all undergraduate student and alumni career development initiatives at Kogod. This role leads a team of professional and student staff providing career coaching and services for undergraduate students and alumni leading to increased student engagement, preparedness, and career outcomes.

1. Leadership and Management:

Develop annual and long-term strategic plans and guide efforts of staff.

Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and supervision to the career team, including career coaches and support staff. Ensure coaching and programming is reflective of job market realities and student needs.

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic planning efforts by providing insights, recommendations, and data-driven analysis related to career programming goals, objectives, and priorities. Lead strategy providing differentiated services and support for undergraduate coaching and programming.

  • Performance Management: Implement performance management processes, including goal setting, regular feedback sessions, and performance evaluations, to support professional growth and development of team members. Identify training and professional development needs for the career programming team and coordinate relevant training opportunities to enhance their skills and expertise.

  • Program Development: Lead the development and implementation of innovative career programming initiatives, workshops, orientation, and events to address the evolving needs of students and alumni as they relate to market needs. Remain aware of criteria for school ranking opportunities making necessary program changes as needed to influence better outcomes. 

  • Partnerships: Foster collaboration and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including academic departments, employers, alumni networks, and industry associations, to enhance career programming offerings and opportunities for students. Build strategic partnerships to ensure high satisfaction of the career journey/lifecycle for the undergraduate and graduate students. 

  • Curricular Integration: Oversees curricular touchpoints and ensures excellent service delivery including integration of career-related assessments and technology systems.

2. Student and Alumni Coaching:

Provide comprehensive career coaching to students and alumni. 

  • Understand Student Needs and Goals: Conduct individual coaching appts to understand career interests, skills, strengths, aspirations. Use assessment tools and career exploration exercises to help students identify their career goals and develop a personalized career plan. Partner with student clubs and faculty to understand career coaching needs of various populations. Provide services (coaching, workshops etc.) in variety of modalities (in person, remote, hybrid) to effectively support needs of varying populations.   

  • Provide Career Guidance: Provide personalized coaching to students and alumni tailored to their career circumstances and goals.  Provide market-relevant, focused guidance on resume, cover letters, job search strategies, networking, personal branding, behavioral and case interviewing skills, job negotiation, and more.
