Rockstar Games is seeking an Associate Director: Software Engineering to join our Online Services organization and work alongside leadership to deliver projects that will enhance our ability to provide an engaging, safe, secure and supported online environment for players of our titles. The successful candidate will share Rockstar Games’ passion for advancing culture and entertainment, possess a team-focused approach to engineering management, and be a proactive mentor and communicator. Additionally, they will have experience leading engineering teams across product boundaries that work on complex systems at scale, and a proven ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is passionate about games, eager for new challenges, and ready to continue our legacy of creating the greatest games in the world. 

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.

WHAT WE DO 

• The Rockstar Games Online Services Team is a passionate development group, focused on growing and maintaining the technology platform that powers Rockstar’s online titles and our ability to deliver world-class player experiences.
• We create connected experiences that are found across our game franchises.
• We create online services for our games, including matchmaking, cloud saves, player stats, leaderboards, and more.
• We provide infrastructure and tooling to enable Rockstar Games to provide an engaging, safe, and fully supported experience for all our online players. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Manage software engineering teams.
• Conduct performance reviews for engineering teams, including regular check-ins to assess progress and re-align where necessary.
• Enable, guide, and mentor engineers as they architect and implement scalable, performant solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Producers to define project requirements, scope, and implementation plans.
• Collaborate across departments to design solutions that integrate effectively with our platform. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with an emphasis on automated data-driven processes, including 4+ years in a leadership role.
• Excellent communication skills as a core member of an internationally based team, with a proven ability to develop and maintain strong relations and negotiate with team members at all levels.
• A strong sense of ownership, with a proactive nature, and a drive to set and accomplish objectives to lead a team to success. 

SKILLS 

• Demonstrable ability to lead teams to deliver against key objectives effectively and iteratively.
• Expertise in modern .NET, designing and building highly performant, scalable automated processes.
• Experience building modern web applications utilizing Typescript and React.
• Experience in ensuring quality by utilizing test frameworks to ensure systems operate accurately and performantly at scale. 
• Experience building systems incorporating SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based database technology. 

PLUSES 

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position. 

• Knowledge of big data ecosystems, e.g. Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake etc. 
• Experience building applications utilizing micro frontend architecture.
• Experience working with UX designers to build quality UIs to enhance workflows.  
• Knowledge of Rockstar Games titles, and a passion for playing video games.
