The Naval Power Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has a challenging opportunity for an Associate Director, Contracts within the Shipboard Missiles Sub-Strategic Business Unit (SSBU) as the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) program lead.
This position will provide the necessary contracts leadership for a growing $900M+ portfolio and lead a team of 4-6 contracts professionals. This role demands a multi-faceted, strategic contracts leader to be a key member of the ESSM leadership team, creating solutions to support U.S. Navy and international customers across all program phases, including development, production, and sustainment. The ESSM program is structured as an international consortium between the U.S. and several NATO countries, with DoD, FMS, and DCS contracts. The candidate selected for this role will manage a team of both managers and individual contributors. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Contracts for the Shipboard Missiles SSBU.
Responsibilities To Anticipate:
- Possess and use subject matter expertise in DoD and international contracting.
- Use excellent and effective communication with internal and external customers to establish mutually beneficial relationships and influence business decisions.
- Investigate and resolve complex contractual matters by applying critical thinking, gathering detailed information, seeking innovative contracting techniques, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strategic advice and guidance on numerous contractual rights/obligations, regulations, and policies/procedures to mitigate risks and unauthorized changes.
- Provide contractual and business guidance to program management leadership.
- Develop pre-negotiation objectives and implement negotiation strategy reviews as part of the proposal development process.
- Support and, in some cases, lead complex negotiations.
- Represent Raytheon independently on significant transactions while developing and maintaining trusting relationships with complex customers.
- Some travel, both domestic and international, is anticipated.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
- Experience in the development of proposals and negotiations
- Experience in leading and development Contracts professionals, which may include direct supervisory responsibility, coaching, mentoring, and/ or teaching
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Demonstrated ability to shape results in support of objectives, including ability to communicate and influence executive leadership
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with complex customers
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and develop effective relationships based on respect and trust
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are essential
- While the position can be performed remotely, candidates with the ability to work onsite in Tucson, AZ are preferred
