Decarbonization Partners is a joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek that invests globally in innovative decarbonization solutions and businesses, aiming to accelerate global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This partnership represents an extension of Temasek and BlackRock’s commitment to sustainability, a core tenet of each firm’s forward strategy.

The joint venture aims to democratize net zero investing and establish decarbonization and climate solutions as a new asset class. Decarbonization Partners launched its initial fund in early 2022, focusing on next generation energy, advanced mobility, bio and low-carbon products, carbon management services, digital transformation, as well as carbon capture, storage, and utilization.

Decarbonization Partners deploys late-stage venture and growth equity capital across multi-stage investments, providing flexible capital solutions across the cycle to scale businesses, platforms, and solutions driving emissions reduction.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and qualified candidate to join the newly established Decarbonization Partners team.  This role offers significant investment exposure to projects and deals across a wide range of sectors and geographies. The successful candidate will work with an experienced senior team in a collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment. The role involves responsibility for project and financial modelling, deal assessment and execution, development and review of due diligence reports, market research, and portfolio management. The individual will also be involved in preparing presentations, performing financial analysis, and conducting industry research.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial models to analyze investment opportunities
  • Collaborate with the investment team to assess and execute investments, including conducting due diligence, financial reviews, and preparing presentation material for the investment committee
  • Conduct market research on potential investments, industries, and competitors
  • Assist in managing portfolio companies
  • Provide portfolio reports and analytics for internal and external use

Experience & skills

  • Strong academic background
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, or private equity. Other relevant experience may be considered
  • Strong understanding of private market investments
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and evaluation
  • Experience in due diligence processes and reviewing financial and legal documentation is a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage workload effectively and deliver quality work on schedule
  • Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented with enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly and entrepreneurial team environment
  • Culture fit is critical
  • CFA, CAIA, or advanced degree is helpful


 

For California only the salary range for this position is $115,000 - $180,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
