Description
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $275,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This salary range is inclusive of additional compensation for serving as an Associate Dean.
Associate Dean for User Services and Community Experience

Description:
NYU’s Division of Libraries seeks an experienced, creative, strategic, and thoughtful Associate Dean for User Services and Community Experience to lead a range of forward-looking, user-focused services in support of the NYU Division of Libraries’ instruction, reference, and engagement programs through both physical and digital expressions. This is a newly configured position focused on enhancing the Libraries’ engagement with NYU’s faculty, students, staff, and the larger global community by providing effective, integrated, and responsive services to meet evolving user information, instructional, and learning needs, both within our library buildings and online. The incumbent will lead a new unit that brings together undergraduate instructional services, reference services, user experience, and community engagement services.
Reporting directly to the Dean of the Division of Libraries and serving as a member of the Library’s Senior Leadership Team, the Associate Dean for User Services and Community Experience will work across the organization to establish strategic priorities, allocate resources, make personnel decisions, set policies, and make strategic and operational decisions. The Associate Dean for User Services and Community Experience will form partnerships within and beyond the NYU community to develop an expansive vision for the Division of Libraries as a vital collaborator in NYU’s global educational mission.
This is a full-time Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty position.
Responsibilities:

Establish collaborative strategies to create a robust, responsive, and coherent Division of Libraries service portfolio that supports teaching and learning in NYU’s academic departments, centers, institutes, and interdisciplinary programs across the global academic centers. Serve on various University bodies focused on the global experience and enterprise.

Cultivate Division of Libraries partnerships with teaching and learning offices, including NYU’s global sites, our NYU libraries in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, and groups focused on instructional technology needs.

Collaborate across the Division to create new user-centered programs, grounded in the Libraries' collections, services, spaces, and expertise, to enhance student success.

Develop strategies to enhance the Division’s digital front door, library.nyu.edu, as a service to the NYU community and beyond. Create integration between our physical and online spaces.

Provide strategic leadership and vision for the 16 FTE librarians and staff in the instructional, reference, and user experience teams

Represent the Division of Libraries on NYU-wide committees and task forces focused on teaching, learning, student success, and engagement. Serve as the Division’s point person for the Student Flourishing and the Global strategic pathways.

Create a culture that encourages and rewards creative-thinking, innovation, high-quality service design, operational excellence, and collaboration.

Participate as a member of the Division of Libraries’ Senior Leadership Team in shared decision-making around personnel actions, resource management, development of policies for all Division operations and services, and to foster the professional growth of Division of Libraries’ faculty and staff.

Represent the Division of Libraries locally, nationally, and internationally on matters related to teaching, global services, space management, and student engagement.

Actively participate in the library's fundraising efforts.
