Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, receives and responds to guarantor/patient inquiries via a variety of paths and outreach efforts to resolve open guarantor accounts via incoming call center, fax, mail, email, work listing or other vehicles of account resolution. Utilizes multiple electronic billing and medical retrieval systems, to resolve guarantor/patient inquiries. Responds timely to a range of patient issues for every contracted and non-contracted payer, including government and non-government payers, to address and resolve complaints and inquiries. This is a hybrid position based in our Westwood office and will require an onsite presence of 1-2 days per week after training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receives and resolves patient inquiries via a high volume of incoming telephone, mail correspondence and electronic messaging regarding a variety of billing issues.
  • Collects any outstanding balances and updates all demographic and insurance information during patient contacts. Researches all inquiries to resolution using various sources, including contacting insurance companies and other outside contacts. Communicates response to patients on findings accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Alerts management of any recurring billing trends and or issues encountered through patient contacts and when possible, assists in developing solutions to said problems.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility utilizing available technologies, payor websites, or by phone contact with third party payors. Collects and assigns referrals received via telephone, fax, and or electronically. Reviews PCP and self-pay exceptions report and resolves issues.
  • Follows established regulations and procedures in the collection, recording, storage and handling of information. Ensures required documentation of issues is complete, accurate, timely and legible. Protects and preserves confidentiality and integrity of all information according to Boston Children’s Hospital’s HIPAA confidentiality policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
  • One year of relevant experience required.
  • Previous call center experience preferred.
