Our Associate Claims Agent will investigate, prepare claim files, perform data entry, and provide support for the claims function. We encourage you to apply today to be considered for this outstanding opportunity!
What you will do:
- Prepare reports and collect supporting information including sketches, photographs, signed statements, police reports, recorded statements, witness interviews, etc.
- Resolve lower-level gas claims and collections
- Testify and assist attorneys in gathering of evidence
- Participates in company’s litigation defense related to third party damage of gas facilities
- Identifies and locates potential witnesses and exhibits for evidence, attends depositions, prepares answers to interrogatories and requests for production of documents, etc.
- Prepares responses to information requests from other departments, legal counsel, insurance carriers and brokers, third parties, vendors, partners and joint owners
- Investigate property losses and coordinates preparation of insurance claim packages
- Negotiate settlements with claimants and/or their attorneys concerning third party damages to facilities
Who you are:
You have:
- 0-2 years of related experience, preferred experience would include working within collections or claims as an Adjuster or subrogation along with a high school diploma/GED
- Knowledge of company construction and safety standards as well as related gas and electric operating policies and procedures
You can:
- Show a solid understanding of company’s’ businesses and associated risk exposures in addition to industry safety codes, regulations and standards
- Offer a familiarity of legal process regarding lawsuits and third-party claims and collections while being analytical and organized handling complex information
You are:
- An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with computers in addition to being a good problem solver, showing logical reasoning while being able to set priorities, develop goals and motivate others

- Bachelor’s degree

- Work performed in typical office environment 90% of the time with 10% travel to North Carolina and Ohio

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
