PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Associate Accountant - Property Accounting position!

Job Description

The Associate Accountant will be joining a dynamic Property Accounting team who is responsible for managing over $13 billion (net) of assets that provide gas and electricity to our customers.    

 

The successful candidate will be someone looking to grow and develop their accounting career and will assist PSE in implementing best business practices while encouraging innovation and dedication to customer service and safety.  The accountant will be open-minded and be willing to build insightful relationships throughout PSE. 

 

This position reports directly to the Property Accounting Supervisor and works closely with PSE’s Property Accounting team, Controller organization, and business units.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of supervisor and more experienced staff or management, performs routine accounting and analysis functions.
  • Participates in daily and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Ensures SOX procedures and controls are being complied with and working according to documentation.
  • Perform routine property accounting transactions including creation of capital orders, order maintenance and capitalization.
  • Prepares journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Ability to manipulate and manage large volumes of data.
  • Use accounting concepts, experience, analytical skills and knowledge of industry to resolve issues
  • Prepare internal, external, and regulatory financial reports.
  • Respond to requests received from management and other departments. 
  • Participates on special projects/research within the department.
  • Complies with internal controls and actively update and test SOX 404 procedures.

 

  • Company & Industry Acumen - Demonstrates knowledge of company operations; able to analyze and compile key reports without material errors; proficient with key software programs and systems.
  • Collaboration - Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to achieve business objectives, with some guidance.
  • Customer Focus - Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and acts with the end customer in mind.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement - Completes daily responsibilities with minimal oversight and looks for opportunities to identify and recommend improvements to processes, procedures and systems, when applicable. Actively builds knowledge and skills to align with industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Good PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access)

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant or candidate
  • Certified Management Accountant or candidate
  • Minimum one year accounting experience

The pay range for this position is $55,400.00 - $86,000.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
