Summary:
The Assistant Labor Supervisor is responsible monitoring the work of and maintaining records on 30-50 employees on his or her shift. On the assigned shift he or she will ensure that labor is used effectively, correctly, and according to each employee’s skill level. The Assistant Labor Supervisor will focus on increasing labor productivity while maintaining operator safety and product quality. This employee is also responsible for maintaining accurate payroll and other personnel records for the employees on his or her shift.
Responsibilities:
The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
▪ Schedule shift employee assignments using the provided software. Ensure employee assignments use employee skills effectively and fairly.
▪ Coordinate shift team leaders for employee lunches and breaks. Ensure break rotation is done fairly and in a timely basis.
▪ Conduct safety meetings. Ensure each shift employee attends at least one safety meeting each month.
▪ Explain company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
▪ Conduct departmental information meetings. These meeting will focus on communicating departmental and Suncast goals to all employees.
▪ Monitor employee performance and adherence to Suncast rules.
▪ Document substandard performance and rule violations in accordance with Suncast policy.
▪ Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
▪ Assist workers in resolving work related problems.
▪ Maintain employee time and production records.
▪ Monitor and ensure quality of produced panels.
▪ Monitor and record scrap numbers from produced panels.
▪ Enter production reports at the end of shift in Excel.
▪ Ensure required documentation is always posted at each work cell (BOMS, MPP, stack configurations).
▪ Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials within the field.
▪ Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.

• Cell leaders
• Team leaders
• Operators
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred. Three to five years of manufacturing experience preferred. Supervisory experience is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to managers and the employees he or she supervises. Ability to communicate with the majority of the hourly workforce is required. This may require fluency in a second language. At this time the predominant language is Spanish. Bilingual a plus.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
• Basic PC skills required. Ability to learn to use Windows-based programs. Programs may include word processing for memos and other intra-office correspondence, spreadsheets with formulas and graphs, and specialized labor scheduling. Ability to learn to use iVP programs for data inquiries.

This is a physically active position in a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk within the manufacturing facility, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
