Position: Assistant Research Scientist

Department: NYU School of Global Public Health 

Supervisor: Dr. Cheryl Healton

Employment Dates: September 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027 

Schedule: Full-Time

 

The position will support the research and student lab functions of the Backlash project funded by the Mellon Foundation.

  • Support research and student lab activities for the Mellon Foundation-funded Backlash project.
  • Draft research papers and develop figures and tables using qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Oversee the lab functions of four sub-labs focused on papers, case studies, qualitative data analysis/coding, and quantitative analysis.
  • Collaborate with PIs at the University of Minnesota and Ohio State University.
  • Assist with participant recruitment, consent, and interview documentation for Commissioners of Health.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, research, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting academic or research projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $53,000-$63,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
