Job Summary

Assist in promoting and advancing Glanbia Nutritionals Food safety and Quality systems along with facilitating continual quality improvements and assist with product release and distribution. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Assistant Team Leader, such duties shall then be assigned to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Functions

• Participate in daily testing of Lactoferrin products on the HPLC equipment.
• Assist with organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the Quality Systems, FSPCA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF Quality Code Ed 8 and SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing Ed 8 – level 3 certification.
• Actively participate in Focus Improvement (FI) Teams.
• Assist with overseeing the Food Safety Programs and leadership in the QM Pillar.
• Participate in all State, FDA, USDA, customer and 3rd party audits.
• Responsible for internal auditing along with QA Manager.
• Grade and evaluate product and determine product release and distribution based on customer requirements.
• Assist with ensuring customer specifications are being met, if not help with investigating complaints and responses.
• Assist with ensuring that all employees have adequate knowledge of our GMP and Food Safety programs and provide training.
• Utilize Glanbia Performance System (GPS) tools and principles to improve quality and efficiency in the plants.
• Participate in maintaining and updating Intelex.
• Cover vacation in the laboratory when needed.
• Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health  Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
• Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Math skills including multiplication and division
• Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
• Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
• Computer experience required
• Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision
• Must be dependable and trustworthy
• Get along and work well with people
• Knowledge of the proper use of all laboratory chemicals
• Knowledge of USDA, FDA, SQF and customer requirements for a food manufacturing plant
• Knowledge of Sustainability and EPA requirements for a manufacturing plant
• Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
• Ability to read and write instructions in English
• Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
• Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
