Description

The Clinical Faculty member is responsible for the Clinical Education of SCCO Interns in the delivery of patient care at the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health and affiliated clinics. The role is hybrid meaning the role may precept in Primary Care and Contact Lenses as the need arises.  The Clinical Faculty will report to the SCCO Dean and the Associate Dean for Clinics. The assignment is subject to change by the program. The position requires a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSI­­BILITIES

The primary role will be as a Hybrid Clinical Faculty shared between the Primary Care/Ocular Disease Service and Cornea & Contact Lens Service. FTE will be determined based on the needs of the service departments. Reassessment of this role will occur one year from the hire date to ensure program and learning objectives are being met and fulfilled.

  • Cornea & Contact Lens Clinical Precepting
    • Clinical application of Contact Lens Principles
    • Diagnosis, Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease (Evidence Based)
    • Dry Eye Disease Diagnosis, Treatment and Management
  • Primary Care & Ocular Disease Clinical Precepting
    • Clinical application of Contemporary Optometric Practice
    • Diagnosis, Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease (Evidence Based)
  • Ability to communicate with Interns, staff, colleagues, other healthcare providers, and referral sources
  • Work Collaboratively with Students, Staff, Professional Colleagues, and Administrators
  • Demonstrate a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive attitude with all stakeholders.
  • Adhere to the Clinical Faculty Behavior Expectations

    • a) Charts:

i) Finalizing of charts in a timely manner

ii) QA: Quality and Accuracy of charting

    • b) Grading of clinical encounters within a timely manner
    • c) Timely completion of correspondence to referring Doctors & Agencies (i.e., QTC)
    • d) Completion of requests for Rx refills, fee sheet adjustments
    • e) Clinical Privileging: Meeting the standards
    • f) Internal marketing: Recall, etc.

4) Participation- Active in the Service and Clinic

    • a) On-call rotation
