JRA SUMMER POSITIONS

Innovation and collaboration are the building blocks for a fun and successful summer!  As such, each year we seek dynamic, experienced, and dependable individuals to join our team for the summer season.   

General Roles for every Employee:

  • Works with the JRA team to provide physical and emotional safety, enjoyment, and wellbeing for all campers.  
  • Supports the JRA mission to ensure that each camper has a safe, fun, and adventurous experience at JRA.
  • Leads by example in respecting differences among campers and staff.  
  • Participates in all aspects of camp activities and sets a positive example for campers and others including punctuality and sportsmanship.  Exudes fun!

Character Traits of a Successful Employee:

  • Enthusiastic, patient, nurturing, good self-control, and sense of humor 
  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a busy camp setting 
  • Good character, integrity, and adaptability

Qualities & Qualifications of a Successful Employee:

  • Previous camp experience is highly preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are highly regarded
  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance
  • Ability to relate to one's peer group

 

Qualifications


Assistant Group Lead, high school graduate; current college student preferred

  • This position is responsible to the Group Lead.  The AGL assists Group Lead in managing a specific group of campers.
  • The AGL guides group and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities. 
  • The AGL assists with transition times by providing clear supportive direction to campers, CITs, and volunteers. Refrain from, and encourage others from, discussing non-camp issues during camp time, especially in front of campers. Respect camper and staff confidentiality.
  • The AGL provides campers with physical and emotional safety and an overall positive camp experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Be actively engaged with children throughout a day
  • May work long hours for extended periods of time which may include sitting or standing
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Works in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
