The Broward County Board of County Commissioners Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates for Assistant General Manager in its Capital Delivery and Infrastructure Maintenance Division.


The Assistant General Manager of Project Delivery leads the design and construction efforts for the Capital Delivery and Infrastructure Maintenance Division. Responsibilities include overseeing capital projects to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, quality and timely delivery; supporting preparation of the annual division budget and Five-Year Program to ensure adequate resources are available to successfully carry out the program; managing and supervising staff and resources; and ensuring strong communications and coordination between all aspects of highly-complex major capital projects in the design and construction phases.  This role is also instrumental in the delivery of strategic initiatives and providing an excellent customer experience for both internal and external customers.

General Description
Provides leadership and direction in all aspects of the operation and maintenance of Transportation Administration. Responsibilities include oversight, direction and coordination of administrative, financial, business and information systems activities for complex and specialized sections within the department to include business operations, grant management and human resources.

Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or closely related field.

(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires six (6) years progressively responsible experience in the development of major public transportation projects and infrastructure encompassing various modes such as Light Rail Transit (LRT), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Commuter Rail, etc. including some experience in the supervisory aspects of the work or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
Must obtain and possess a valid Florida Driver's License for duration of appointment

Preferences

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or field of study related to the area of assignment

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, Federal Transit Administration programs, Capital Investment Grant (CIG) funding mechanisms and transportation project management, particularly pertaining to FTA funded projects

  • Experience in alternative project delivery methods including, but not limited to, design-build, progressive design-build, and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR)
