    Job Description

    The Assistant Director – Protective Services Detail (PSD) serves as the senior tactical commander responsible for all armed Protective Services operations. This position provides executive-level leadership and operational command oversight for mobile patrol, zone-based security, and fixed-post armed screening functions.

    The Assistant Director maintains ultimate accountability for armed incident response, executive protection operations, and use-of-force governance. During critical incidents, this role may serve as Incident Commander or Deputy Incident Commander and is responsible for strategic direction, tactical alignment, and post-incident review.

    This position ensures operational readiness, disciplined command structure, centralized oversight of armed training standards, and alignment with regulatory and liability requirements.  It also upholds Forbes Five-Star service expectations in all Protective Services operations within a luxury hotel/casino environment.

    This role requires demonstrated experience commanding armed tactical teams, advanced executive protection oversight, and the ability to lead under high-risk, high-liability conditions.

    Essential Duties

    • Provide command-level oversight of all Protective Services Detail operations, including PSO3, PSO2, and PSO1 classifications.
    • Direct and supervise PSD Managers and PSD Supervisors to ensure tactical readiness and deployment integrity.
    • Serve as Incident Commander or Deputy Incident Commander during critical incidents, including active assailant events, violent encounters, or executive protection emergencies.
    • Oversee operational doctrine related to armed response, use-of-force application, and tactical deployment models.
    • Maintain executive ownership of the end-to-end executive protection lifecycle, including threat assessment, planning oversight, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Responsible for command‑level review of use‑of‑force incidents, excluding the investigation itself, including analysis, after‑action reporting, corrective action, and ensuring compliance with department policy and applicable statutes.
    • Oversee post-incident analysis and after-action reviews to strengthen operational performance and accountability.
    • Ensure operational alignment between PSD field leadership and executive security objectives.
    • Coordinate with the Armed Training Manager to ensure firearms proficiency, defensive tactics consistency, and tactical scenario readiness.
    • Maintain oversight of staffing models, deployment plans, and operational coverage across all armed classifications.
    • Review performance metrics and operational data to identify risk trends and improve response effectiveness.
    • Ensure compliance with Nevada Revised Statutes, Gaming Control Board regulations, and department policies.
    • Maintain budgetary oversight for Protective Services Detail operations and related equipment resources.
    • Promote a culture of professionalism, discipline, accountability, and tactical excellence.
    • Any other duties assigned by the Director or Vice President.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible armed security, military, or law enforcement experience.
    • Documented experience commanding armed tactical teams in high-risk operational environments.
    • Demonstrated experience managing active assailant response, violent incident mitigation, or comparable tactical operations.
    • Prior leadership experience overseeing supervisors or managers within an armed operational structure.
    • High school graduate or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred but not required. (Advanced education combined with documented tactical command experience is highly regarded.)
    • Experience operating within a luxury resort hotel, or Forbes-rated environment preferred.

    Licenses & Certifications

    • Nevada Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit or HR 218 certification (or ability to obtain within six months).
    • Nevada Gaming Registration.
    • Alcohol Awareness (AES) Card.
    • First Aid certification.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • CPR certification.
    • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.

    Training & Compliance

    • Advanced firearms and defensive tactics proficiency.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of use-of-force standards and regulatory compliance.
    • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) training or equivalent command-level certification preferred.
    • Successful completion of pre-hire fitness and psychological evaluation.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
