Role at a Glance 

The Assistant Director of Accounting position will have a variety of transactional, general ledger, and reporting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who has exceptional attention to detail and the skills needed to be comfortable working with critical and sensitive data. The position will focus on ensuring efficient and accurate financial reporting, creating and applying company accounting policy, identifying process improvement opportunities in a fast-growing and dynamic startup environment.

What you will do 

• Understand and manage aspects of the staff and senior accountant roles. 
• Record journal entries, maintain schedules, and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reviews standard financial statements on a monthly basis for parent and subsidiary companies and leads the process. Answer questions as needed. 
• Manage the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact. 
• Assists with tax compliance & government registrations efforts. 
• Prepare reporting for investors as needed
• Continually improve policies, processes, and procedures related to these functions, both within the accounting department and cross-departmentally.
• Assist and/or lead special projects, including selecting and implementing new software systems.
• Create technical memos and accounting policies. 

 

About You

Required Skills 

• Thorough working knowledge of GAAP.
• Professional judgment as it relates to interpreting accounting principles and policies.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 7-10 years experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Skills 

• Experience at high-growth technology startup companies.
• QuickBooks Online and mid-market ERP experience.
• Technical accounting experience
