Under the direction of the UCLA Head Start Executive Director, the Assistant Director provides supervision to a group of professional and technical employees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, oversight of daily program operations, and staff supervision. The Assistant Director exercises judgement to ensure program goals and objectives are met. They also assist in preparing annual budgets, refunding applications, and grants. They will assess the efficiency and effectiveness of program services and recommend actions for performance improvement.

The Assistant director leads the team in program delivery of all program components, prepares data reports, and manages the scheduling of staff and professional development trainings including the development of professional development plans. They will be responsible for hiring and training of new staff, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance to University, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and state, federal, and local laws as it pertains to Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The Assistant Director will represent the program in professional committees.

Annual Salary Range: $83,800.00 - 179.400.00

Required:

• Required to hold a valid California driver’s license and have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures. Must also have available transportation.
• Minimum B.A. degree in health-related area and or / Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field (must include core child development units) or equivalent experience and/or training
• Fingerprint screening, Criminal Record and Child Abuse Index Clearance
• Per funding agency requirements, all Early Head Start staff must complete background checks at least every five years that includes, sex offender registry check, State or FBI criminal history check, including fingerprint check, child abuse. and neglect state registry check if available in the state of California and annual health physical.
