Assistant Director - Disability Resource Center

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director, Disability Resource Center, the Assistant Director is responsible for the administration of the multi-function operations of the DRC.  The incumbent acts as a campus leader to promote inclusive design and practices that reduce the need for individual disability – related accommodations.  The Assistant Director serves as a primary resource to the campus community and manages professional staff providing student programmatic access as mandated by state and federal laws. 

The Assistant Director is expected to work at a high level of autonomy and exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems and challenges.  The Assistant Director serves as a campus champion and expert providing analysis and recommendations on the status of functions and the emerging issues through ongoing periodic meetings and reports to campus leaders and offices.

Department Summary

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a central service unit within Student Affairs. The DRC consults with the campus community to promote welcoming environments and facilitate equal opportunity for students with disabilities in their academic courses, campus services, and all student programs and activities. The DRC collaborates with students to identify and eliminate potential and real barriers to accessibility by promoting inclusive design, providing reasonable accommodations, and assessing effectiveness.

Key Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards pertaining to the operation of a student disability services program.
• Knowledge of current and emerging environmental, regulatory and legislative issues and trends impacting the delivery and financing of student disability services.
• Knowledge and understanding of budgeting and financial management principles and practices in a public institution setting.
• Familiarity with both current and future uses of technology in the provision of student disability services.
• Knowledge of funding principles, methods, procedures, and resources within a public institution environment (state allocation, fee-generated revenue, program-generated revenue, contracts and grants, gifts, donations, accounting and contract negotiations).

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of progressively responsible experience administering program(s) providing student disability services including the design and/or development of related programs and services, and responsibility for fiscal management, including budget and human resources oversight.
• Qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $88,200 - $99,225 Per Year. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
