JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal supervision to provide assistance to the Director of COI and Export Control in operation of the conflict of interest program (including conflict of commitment). Provides managerial guidance, training, technical assistance, and regulatory guidance to all staff within the department, as well as campus-wide to assure operational compliance with conflict of interest policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in science, business, healthcare management, or related field

  • Experience
    6 years of progressively responsible, related experience with research compliance and/or research administration; demonstrated familiarity with conflict of interest guidelines, including 2 years of experience in supervisory capacity

Preferred

  • Education
    Advanced degree and certification in healthcare research compliance highly preferred.

  • Experience
    Experience in an academic or hospital setting


JOB DUTIES

  • Manages the conflict of interest program and outside activity approval process to assure compliance with university and UT System policies, federal regulations, and funding sponsor requirements.
  • Assists the Director of COI & Export Control on various reports and projects. Relieves the Director of a variety of internal duties and decisions, which require thorough understanding of conflict of interest functions, programs, and policies.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors procedures designed to promote compliance with COI policies and Management Plans, including interaction and integration with other institutional committees such as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), and offices such as Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA), Supply Chain Management, the Office for Technology Development, the Office of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs, and the Office of Legal Affairs.
  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of compliance efforts and proactively identity program enhancement.
  • Relieves director of wide variety of internal duties and large volume of decisions, which require thorough understanding of the functions, programs, and policies of organization.
