The Assistant Controller drives discipline within the General Ledger, enforces documentation standards, and holds the accounting team accountable for timely, accurate performance.

This role is based in our New Orleans Headquarters 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the completion of full-cycle month and quarter-end financial statement close in all functions, including, but not limited to, approval escalation, journal entry posting, and reconciliation review to ensure accuracy.
  • Leads daily accounting operations and provide guidance and oversight to the accounting team 
  • Owns the integrity of the General Ledger, including the development of a standard monthly accrual list and completion of all major account reconciliations
  • Precise accounting with clear separation between legal entities; responsible for booking transactions such as leases based on sound executed documentation.  
  • Exercises fiduciary responsibility by ensuring that all transactions booked, and payments made are supported by appropriate documentation
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and properly supported
  • Enforce strong cut-off procedures and documentation standards
  • Partner with Controller to document and improve accounting processes for efficiency, audit-readiness & scalability 
  • Report to Controller, compliance with sales tax and regulatory reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting 
  • Experience with multi-entity organization 
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships, facilitating processes and accountability 
  • Demonstrated success in managing a team and a track record of developing and mentoring others 
  • Experience working with a retail, consumer goods, or related business with understanding of inventory management highly preferred
  • Experience working with NetSuite 
  • Must possess an ability and a desire to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment; solution-oriented 
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize critical needs effectively; hands on 
  • Able to communicate effectively with various levels in the organization and with external parties with ability to influence and collaborate
