Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Men's Basketball - Head Coach, the lead technical specialist will be expected to assist the head coach in the implementation of performance and development initiatives that will help ensure the success of the basketball student-athletes. Expected to assist head coach with other related functions. Performs tasks independently with limited instructions. These functions are of high complexity and the incumbent performs them using general instructions.
Primary Responsibilities:
(i.) Recruitment of prospective student athletes
(ii.) Administrative tasks such as coordination of travel planning and associated team business processes
(iii.) Scouting opponents for the purpose of developing game plans – assessment of tendencies of opponent team/student athletes
(iv.) Individual student athlete development which includes technical, tactical and strategic skills
(v.) Support Head Coach to operationalise the yearly training plan of the team
(vi.) The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Knowledge and experience of basketball at a university level
Ability to communicate in both English and French
Prepare and analyse basketball specific data to assist with the individual and team technical and tactical plan.
Organized, punctual, team-oriented, hard worker
Level II NCCP certification or equivalent
Demonstrated coaching skills in the sport
Prior coaching experience at an elite/competitive level.
