What this job involves:

The Assistant Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment while also leading the engineering team.  You will oversee an engineering team of 3 at a 60,000 square foot state-of- the-art museum in Midtown Atlanta. This position requires the Assistant Chief Engineer to be on-site. 

Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of some weekend coverage, on-call rotation and after-hours event coverage as needed

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems
• Track equipment warranty coverage and ensure proper utilization
• Provide regular reports on building performance
• Supervise and manage engineering team including active participation in training, coaching and personal development
• Conduct performance reviews in conjunction with Manager of Facilities Team
• Develop weekly staffing schedules and manage time-off requests to ensure adequate engineering coverage during regular hours of operation and after-hours events
• Review and approve engineer weekly time entries for accuracy
• Create and routinely update a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures
• Oversee work order management and asset tracking in Corrigo
• Participate regularly in client-facing and property team communications
• In conjunction with Manager of Facilities team, manage the engineering budget and participate in overall operating budget process
• Assist in the development of a capital improvement plan
• Coordinate and monitor sub-contractor work, ensure contractor compliance with safety protocols and evaluate sub-contractor performance
• Lead engineering response to emergency situations
• Implement ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures
• Coordinate Fire Life Safety and other code required inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, ADA requirements.
• Other duties as requested by property management team and/or client

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or similar
• People management experience (leading a team)
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
• Universal CFC EPA certification
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive
• Strong customer service and communication skills
