Title: Assistant Athletic Director
Reports To:  Principal of NPHS, Athletic Director 
Takes Direction From:  Principal of NPHS, Athletic Director
Calendar:  A week before the First Day of Fall Sports to Last Day of Spring Sports
Summary:  The Assistant Athletic Director assists with the planning, staffing, finances, facilities, community relations, booster clubs, and compliance of the athletic programs at the high school. 
NOTE: This position is an extra-duty contract position. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Athletic Director with preparation of venues for competitions or practices
  • Assists the Athletic Director with the scheduling of athletic facilities
  • Assists the Athletic Director with the scheduling of transportation for athletic teams
  • Helps the Athletic Director with management of home competitions
  • Helps the Athletic Director with coordinate the Suburban I League schedules for all high school athletic teams
  • Assists the Athletic Director in the recruitment, selection of coaches, and employment recommendations
  • Reviews, enforces, and abides by the rules and regulations of the PIAA, Suburban I League, and Middle School League
  • Assists in monitoring and communicating with the HS administrators and staff regarding athletes' eligibility to participate in athletic events, including practices, open gyms, etc.
  • Assists the Athletic Director with coordination of college signings for athletes
  • Assists the Athletic Director in collaborating with the athletic trainer to ensure that all athletes have completed annual physicals, release/hold harmless forms, and required registration prior to participation
  • Assists the Athletic Director in the supervision of athletic coaches
  • Represents the district, as needed, at Conference, Suburban I League, and state meetings for administering the interscholastic athletic program
  • Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Education and/or Certification Required:      

  • Bachelor's degree is required. 

Experience Needed:

  • Previous coaching experience at high school level needed
  • Leadership experience preferred

Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of PIAA and Suburban I rules preferred
  • Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness

Requisite Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, specifically with Google Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English
  • Demonstrate conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills 

Abilities Required:

  • Ability to supervise athletic coaches
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, coaches, officials, administrators, and the public
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with all stakeholders, and the community through positive representation and communication
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth
  • Ability to maintain professional decorum (remain calm) under stress and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to school district buildings, athletic competitions and professional meetings as required
  • PA Driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
