Objective: To achieve operations stability on the assembly line by ensuring standardized work is followed to secure safety, quality, and productivity. Lead the on-the-job training process for the shift while maintaining compliance with the department’s Skill Matrix, identify and follow up on abnormalities, and build a positive team environment through productive workflow and accountability.
What does your day look like?
Build a work environment that encourages team motivation and engagement.
Enforce compliance with basic rules and expected behaviors.
Conduct On-the-Job Training and manage the Job Qualification Management process.
Manage and conduct job performance assessments for team members.
Audit Standard Work and ensure Standard Work procedures are accurate and followed.
Ensure 5S compliance.
Lead shift start-up meetings and keep the Team Leader board updated.
Respond to abnormalities, troubleshoot issues, and escalate complex or chronic problems.
Identify waste and propose process improvements (Kaizen).
Conduct and enforce corrective actions based on rules, expected behaviors, and the CBA.
Work in a safe manner and encourage others to do the same; report all unsafe acts and conditions immediately.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and conditions.
Offer ideas for improvement of all systems and help implement them; lead initiatives to achieve plant quality and operational objectives.
Understand customer and internal stakeholder needs and work toward meeting and exceeding them.
Maintain the appearance of a world-class facility; actively support full implementation of 5S and keep all areas clean, neat, and properly organized.
Actively engage with Metalsa’s operating principles and continuous improvement practices; participate in formal development planning to build toward future HD leadership roles.
Assist in all aspects related to assembly production as needed.
Additional responsibilities as required – this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change.
What will you bring: Academic and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Proven Team Leader experience
- Experience with the Metalsa Operating System: OJT, Team Leader Board, Poka-Yoke, Standardized Work, Work Instructions, JSA, etc.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, planning, team orientation, and presentation skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
