Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Officer is responsible for securing premises, personnel, and the public by patrolling county facilities, buildings and grounds as well as permitting or prohibiting entry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspect and patrol premises regularly
- Monitor the entry and exit of employees, visitors, and other individuals
- Report any suspicious behaviors and situations
- Check building before leaving
- Secure all exits and doors
- Provide assistance to employees and the general public
- Maintain professional image
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Provide regular predictable attendance and fosters a cooperative work environment.
- Enforce Riley County rules and policies by giving direction in accordance with Personnel Policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
POSITIONS REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age at the time of hire
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
License(s)/Certificate(s): Valid driver’s license required.
Experience: 5 years’ experience as a Security Officer or similar role
Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow safe practices and principles
- Knowledge and ability to monitor building security.
- Ability to judge, decide or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely especially in matter affecting action, good sense, and discretion.
- Ability to interact comfortably with individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to defend self and others with and without the use of non-lethal force.
- Ability to maintain composure and operation efficiency under high stress situation
- Ability to deal tactfully with people.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Ability to print legibly.
