Artemis II ML-2 Senior Project Engineer

Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is preparing to launch Artemis to the Moon, and ARES is looking for talented people to help us get there.  The rocket boosters have been delivered to KSC and Orion will be accepted shortly thereafter, as the Artemis II vehicle is built and prepared for launch to send astronauts to the Moon.

 In support of this effort, the ARES team needs a senior-level project engineer to provide project management and project integration support to the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML-2) Element Project Managers (EPMs) in the daily management of all aspects of the ML-2 projects, with a focus on the electrical subsystems of the projects. The candidate will provide support to the NASA ML-2 element team including the design, construction/fabrication, and Validation & Verification activities for the projects. He/she will conduct project management support activities including budget planning and tracking, schedule development and assessments, requirements assessments, risk assessments, overall electrical team integration and technical challenge mitigation development, and status reporting.   He/she will provide integration support on element schedules assessments, budget planning, and requirements analysis.  He/she will develop schedules, presentations, status reports, weekly notes, and financial assessments.  The candidate will develop and/or lead studies and assessments associated with new or revised requirements and adjustments in program schedules and milestones. The candidate will support management in providing lead responsibilities for the ARES ML-2 team.

Minimum Requirements:

• 20 years' experience of related experience and an advanced Masters degree.   Preferably experience in launch vehicle, facility, payloads, ground support equipment, test integration, and operations.
• Knowledge of electrical ground support equipment and systems utilized for flight hardware processing, integration, test, and operations. 
• Knowledge of project management, development, integration, and verification/validation activities of ground support equipment and systems at KSC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidate can support full time on-site position at KSC.  At this time and for the foreseeable future, the on-site requirement is Tuesday through Thursday, with teleworking approved for Monday and Friday. 
• Candidate has excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment co-located with multiple cross program customers and contractors.
• Candidate is flexible to changing work demands, schedule pressure, multi-tasking, operating with minimal direct supervision, and meeting all customer deadlines.
• Candidate is a self-starter with outstanding organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with requirements analysis, schedule and risk analysis, budget planning, management briefings and reporting.
• PMP or other project management certification.

Education and Relevant Work Experience:

This position requires a MS in Engineering or technical equivalent, a BS in Engineering, with very strong Electrical Engineering experience, and 20 years of relevant work experience.
