Position Overview
This position will manage production operations for multiple concrete block plants including our Groveland and Edgewater locations in Florida. The Area Operations Manager will provide leadership, training, supervision and support to concrete block plant personnel, develop teamwork and foster team spirit within the concrete block production department. Other responsibilities include fostering and enforcing a safe work environment and the efficient and effective utilization of human resources, plant equipment.
Schedule
This position requires the ability to effectively manage a 24/7/365 block production operation.
Supervision Duties
- Evaluate, oversee, and manage all aspects of block plant operations.
- Evaluate, monitor, and coach personnel supervised.
- Manage the workforce assigned to your plants daily.
- Issue progressive discipline per the company’s progressive discipline policy.
- Direct work at multiple plant locations.
- Review time cards, act on, and where appropriate, approve payroll claims.
- Attendance and on-time monitoring.
- Complete all paperwork and reports required by the company.
- Positively supervise and motivate plant professionals.
- Control expenditures and maximize profits for the plants, region, and company.
- Implement and maintain 5s program.
- Adhere to and positively communicate all company policies.
Safety & Environmental
- Assure compliance with ALL safety programs.
- Hold weekly Take 5 meetings with all employees and visitors.
- Confirm that proper maintenance is conducted on all equipment.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and report corrections as needed.
- Assist with accident & environmental investigation / compliance.
Vehicle and Equipment Service and Maintenance
- Routinely inspect vehicles and equipment - report repair priorities.
- Insure plants and operating equipment is clean and properly maintained.
- Insure safety equipment is maintained.
- Perform routine plant maintenance.
- Schedule vehicle repairs through the regional equipment team.
Quality Assurance
- Produce block in accordance to desired specifications, dimensions, and strengths.
- Perform and record block strength and fire rating testing as required.
- Maintain stock piles in accordance with DOT standards.
- Must keep an open line of communication with the Quality Control department.
Operations
- Coordinate raw material optimization and orders.
- Maintain specified inventory levels on all materials.
- Perform general maintenance on plant equipment and facilities as needed.
- Responsible for all monies received.
- Adhere to returned concrete policy.
- Produce concrete block masonry units as efficiently as possible.
Job Function Requirements

- Demonstrate and communicate high standard of customer service and satisfaction by working in conjunction with dispatch and sales teams.
- Maintain and post all KPI’s daily.
- Maintain housekeeping tasks of plant site and office to conform to company and legal Safety standards.
- All plant managers are to be DOT certified.
- Open, read, and respond to emails daily.

- 5+ years’ experience with Concrete Block production is required.
- Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with customers and all company personnel.
- Must have extensive knowledge of concrete block production equipment and plants.
- Must have extensive knowledge of company products and services.
