Position Summary:
The Area Field Engineer works closely with the Area Manager providing engineering and technical assistance in all disciplines to assigned area within a project site. Responsible for the day to day activities of the Field Engineers in assigned area. Attends various meetings including but not limited to safety, plan of the day, schedule, quality and materials. The Area Field Engineer is responsible for knowing the schedule, installation sequence, material status and quality of an assigned area. Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate construction engineers and others, as assigned. The Area Field Engineer reports directly to the Area Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises preparation of construction drawings and schedules. Supervises design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of “as built” drawings and other job plans.
- Assists construction engineers and superintendents in interpreting design drawings.
- Monitoring equipment installation and planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment.
- Assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure environmental protection.
- Coordinates with the Area Manager and Project Field Engineer on activities affecting the construction and engineering activities on the project.
- Analyzes assigned construction activities to determine the scope, time and resource requirements.
- Coordinates, supervises and reviews the planning and assembling of the work packages to ensure proper construction methods and procedures.
- Coordinates and resolves engineering or construction problems with superintendents as required ensuring ensure the work packages are clearly understandable.
- Works with various functions to ensure the project achieves goals set for environmental, safety & health, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinates the interfacing between the construction automation plan and the project controls program at the jobsite.
- Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
- Reviews and/or supervises, as assigned, the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, schedules and budgets.
- Plans and recommends procedures to be implemented by superintendents to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
- Implements controls over variables affecting job progress to ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and to ensure that other corporate programs are fully utilized.
- Actively leads and participates in the “People Based Quality (PBQ)” and the “Build it clean program.”
- Completes training and implements required Standard Work Process Procedures, Project Specifications and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Maintains records of costs and quantity information, evaluates data and prepares applicable reports as requested by project management utilizing established, standardized automation tools.

- Provides input to constructability and lessons learned.
