Position Description:

Pole Star Defense is looking for a multi-skilled, passionate developer to join our growing engineering team as the ArcGIS developer. This position will work closely with supporting departments and interact with the PMO daily as well as other business units and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, reliable, result oriented and be able to perform well in a fast-paced environment. This position will be responsible for following internal SDLC standards and accepted best practices for developed solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, enhance, and support GIS software, database and Web applications, interfaces, productivity tools, desktop tools, and server and client utilities and operations in the context of enterprise GIS.
  • Develop, support, update, and perform GIS desktop, server, and administrative processes in various business areas.
  • Provide support, analysis, or management services in the specialties of application system administration, database administration, Web administration, or data management.
  • Administer GIS services and provide support for GIS applications.
  • Coordinate with team members and business stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Leverage ESRI ArcMap polygon editing tools to edit or create tract and easement datasets.
  • Develop maps and charts for presentations and reports
  • Review data to identify errors and inconsistencies in order to correct them before further analysis is performed

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in GIS methodologies with ESRI software applications
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software, specifically regarding geoprocessing and advanced editing tools, as well as accessing data through ESRI ArcSDE connections
  • Knowledge of GIS concepts, image interpretation, and conveying GIS/spatial information to non-GIS/technical people
  • Experience with handling and conversion of multiple spatial and non-spatial data sources
  • Intermediate level of experience in Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, PL/SQL
  • Ability to work in a collaborative multi-application team environment.
  • Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment
  • Experience working with DHS and/or DoD


Education/Certs

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering or related field
  • GIS Certification; Online GIS Cert, GISP or Esri Technical Cert


Desired Skills (Not Required):

  • DoD Security Clearance


Travel Requirements:

Ability for up to 10% travel both domestic and international.

WORK SCHEDULE NOTE:

While this position is scheduled for a traditional Monday – Friday work week, our systems run 24/7/365 and as such, you may be expected to perform out of hours, on-call support on an as needed basis. This may include weekends and/or holidays and is worked on a rotation system with other team members. Additional compensation may be available for working on-call, standby or holiday hours.

This is a Public Trust position and requires completion of a State and Federal Criminal History Report (i.e., background check) and may require a Department of Defense security clearance. Current and future employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of both the FBI Summary History Report and if designated, a DoD security clearance.
