Alaska Northstar Resources is currently seeking a mid-level Data Visualization Specialist to join the team on a project supporting a large civilian agency. The Data Visualization Specialist (mid-level) will work to identify data sources, tools and data visualizations that can all be brought together to create decision-supporting insights and information. The main goal in this work is to use the data available to provide meaningful information and representations of data to enable the client to make better and quicker decisions. The role will involve working with Google Cloud Platform's (GCP) suite of data tools including, but not limited to, BigQuery and Looker.
The specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing visualizations of client data that will be leveraged to convey valuable insights to a range of stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creating visually appealing and operationally impactful dashboards and reports.
- Using expert knowledge of data visualization tools to deliver information that allows client users to quickly understand data, ask better questions, and take action.
- Designing, developing, and delivering analytics solutions with consideration for functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure, and performance.
- Collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
- Helping to define enterprise data and technology needs to support business intelligence and analytics.
- Facilitating meetings with diverse and sometimes conflicting points of view.
- Supporting an Agile software development lifecycle.
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree
Candidate must be eligible for NACI/Public Trust Security clearance
Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience overall
Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience with the following:
- Designing, developing, and configuring data visualizations for different types of users
- Utilizing Tableau, Power BI, or other tools to create and develop robust reporting applications
- Data management disciplines including data governance, data architecture, data modeling, data storage, data security, data integration, and data quality
- Ability to lead or participate in business sessions to identify and document analytic use cases
- Ability to be a self-starter, take ownership of opportunities, work independently, and manage simultaneous projects
- Written and verbal communications skills with the ability to explain advanced concepts to audiences of varying levels using simple terms
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Experience with Big Query, Google Looker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Agile methodology
Work Environment
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Occasional business travel may be required. Only requested and approved expenses will be covered by ANR.
