About the role
The Haleon Consumer Healthcare R&D team supports the development of leading global brands in Consumer Health care. Analytical sciences is a specialized discipline providing support for new product development, via methods, claims and technology development programs that contribute to the growth of the Consumer Health Business.
This position is responsible for leading a team of analytical scientists who provide technical support to the Global Respiratory R&D team. The role requires familiarity with separation sciences and detection technology and includes oversight of new technology exploration within the Analytical department. The incumbent serves as both a manager and subject matter expert in analytical chemistry, with additional knowledge of related fields such as organic chemistry, spectroscopy, and physical chemistry. Collaboration with leaders and scientists in Product Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams is an essential aspect of this position.
Role Responsibilities
Develops analytical strategies within a fit for purpose model to support the global business.
Oversees R&D testing activities for the Respiratory Analytical Development team to support global business.
Interfaces with internal and external partners such as Product Development, Quality & Supply Chain (QSC), third party testing facilities & manufacturing sites and the Global OTC Respiratory business unit to provide analytical chemistry support.
Leads and deploys resources, both internal and external, to support the development of novel, innovative products focused on range dosage forms.
Ensures projects are planned and completed using sound technical principles in accordance with agreed upon project timing.
Supports technology transfer efforts and manages departmental operations and laboratory facilities.
Leads or participates in due diligence, new business opportunity and product assessments as required.
Effective and influential presentations and writing skills with the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences as appropriate (e.g. external, commercial, management, scientific).
Ensures the Analytical Development testing team operates in a manner compliant with applicable federal, state and local regulations and internal Haleon policies.
Understands product development and facility management requirements in both a development and cGMP manufacturing environment.
Works closely with QSC teams to direct analytical test method development and validations, cleaning method validations and method transfer to commercial product testing sites.
Leads efforts in analytical chemistry to continue to build internal capabilities as needed and interfaces with R&D teams globally.
Actively participates in an intradisciplinary community of practice across all analytical teams to ensure the use of best practices are adopted company wide.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 7 years of experience, MS degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 9 years of experience, or BS degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 12 years’ experience.
7 years’ experience in Rx, Pharmaceutical, OTC or consumer products industries.
Experience working across functional interfaces as well as with external contractors.
A proven ability to apply effective influencing and negotiating skills.
Strong mastery of Analytical/Separation Science field in relation to chromatographic technology.
Experience in recruiting, training and direction setting of a large group of analytical scientists.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD Degree or equivalent.
Chemistry major.
Strong knowledge of cGMP and ICH requirements related to product development.
Familiarity with multiple regulatory and quality categories related to global product development.
