Part of Western's Student Affairs division, the DAC is part of The Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement (The Centers). The Centers also include the Office of Multicultural Student Services and its multiple cultural centers, and LGBTQ+ Western.
About the PositionThe Alternative Testing and Notetaking Services Administrator is responsible for the management, supervision, and day-to-day operations of the Disability Access Center’s (DAC) Alternative Testing and Notetaking Services accommodation programs. Reporting to the Director of the DAC, the Administrator is responsible for ensuring equal access to and inclusion in these programs for all qualified students with disabilities. The Administrator is likewise responsible for ensuring that these programs are provided in a timely and effective manner per state and federal laws and University policies. The position manages high-visibility communications with faculty and staff partners and provides disabled students the access and accommodation resources required for their access at Western.
Must work on site in Bellingham.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
60% - Manage the Alternative Testing Program
- Oversee a professional testing center that administers testing accommodations for disabled students, ensures academic integrity, and provides timely customer services to disabled students and to faculty teaching students receiving testing accommodations.
- Independently manage and conduct daily operations of the DAC Testing Center.
- Manage daily, weekly, and quarterly testing calendar.
- Prepare and administer examinations.
- Check in examinees, verify identification, and explain the exam process. Monitor examinees while testing and maintain a secure testing environment.
- Promptly return completed tests to faculty per department procedures.
- Scribe and proctor tests through the DAC office as needed.
- Develop and ensure consistent implementation of documented protocols for DAC Testing Center operations, including protocols for test administration. Collaboratively with supervisor and access managers, identify issues and implement improvements to protocol and practice.
- Establish and maintain accurate records of DAC Testing Center operations, ensuring adherence to law, policy, and best practices regarding information security, privacy, and records retention. Maintain the confidentiality of student records and information in compliance
