About the opportunity
Be part of the Australian Imaging Service, the national digital research platform for secure biomedical imaging research data management, analysis, informatics, and machine learning.
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team is looking for a highly motivated AIS Data Operations Manager to join their high performing team. In your new role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Australian Imaging Service, including a portfolio of projects funded by NCRIS, MRFF, and EU. . You will work with researchers, clinicians, and technical staff to define standard data governance and operating procedures to be implemented across the national nodes to support leading research. As part of AIS leadership, they will develop continuous improvement strategies and roadmaps, and work with technical staff to execute those roadmaps.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- manage day to day operations and projects across the Australian Imaging Service
- expertly translate intricate research requirements into actionable plans, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams
- establish and evolve data and metadata standards and governance
- streamline and optimise data movement, management, and operations, ensuring efficiency and
- effectiveness
- lead effective communication strategies that foster collaboration and innovation across technical domains
- lead continuous improvement efforts, ensuring alignment with the university goals and objectives
- liaise with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, championing stakeholder engagement strategies to drive collaborative initiatives and uphold the work areas objectives
- support work area reporting and compliance directives, ensuring accuracy, system integration, and adherence to university policies
- oversee the implementation of work area budgets, monitor spending to ensure alignment with financial projections, and contribute to periodic budget reviews
- manage and allocate resources, setting short-term goals to ensure the work area services are delivered efficiently and effectively
- provide effective leadership, guidance, and advice to staff in the work area to ensure the proactive achievement of outcomes
About you
- ability to manage day to day client interaction and expectations for multiple or large scale projects, including the anticipation of client needs and the proposal of alternative business solutions
- broad knowledge of Medical Imaging research modalities and techniques (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI Etc.)
- demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, evaluate and adapt strategic initiatives in a changing higher education and industry environment
- demonstrated extensive ability to research and resolve problems using a variety of resources and tools.
- demonstrated high-level interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and to communicate effectively on complex technical issues with technical and non-technical audiences
- demonstrated knowledge or practical experience in data management such as, current technologies including data repositories, standards in metadata, research methods and research data curation, and how data supports high quality research
- strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
- excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, including effective management of stakeholder relationships, commitment to ensure service excellence
- demonstrated experience in prioritising your own and your team workload to meet competing and ad hoc demands.
