Function Facilities Maintenance

Salary: $25.65 - $32.06 Commensurate with Experience

SUMMARY

Supervise and participate in the work of semi-skilled and skilled workers performing maintenance and repair of airfield markings, parking lot markings, and RSA/TSA signage. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of FAA Part 139 Certification requirements and ensures work meets regulatory standard. Work is performed under strict guidelines such as FAA and TSA, time limitations, and limited supervision. Follow guidelines for public safety, security, and customer service. Work involves considerable contact with the FAA, contractors, airline tenants, and airport employees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review, investigate, resolve, or make recommendations about requests for service or complaints.
• Coordinate and supervise the daily use and maintenance of supplies and equipment,t and make recommendations for repairs.  Assign and test equipment.
• Review and maintain accurate records and reports on daily operations.  Originate and maintain records and notes for employee performance appraisals, payroll, and training records.
• Operate a variety of other equipment, such as a loader, backhoe, dozer, skid steer, and dump truck, in the course of demonstrating or assessing equipment use or capabilities.
• Perform job duties while complying with TSA security requirements.
• Perform Job duties that require operating vehicles or heavy equipment in/on and around active runways and taxiways environments, while following instructions provided by FAA traffic controllers and following airfield signage, lighting, and paint marking instructions.

General Information:

• Works (Sunday-Wednesday 8:00 PM-6:00 AM). This position is considered essential and requires the ability to work other shifts and overtime when required by assignment, inclement weather, or urgent/emergency situations. Subject to emergency calls, back to work.
• Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and, therefore, exclude them from employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervise crew of airfield maintenance technicians and participate in their daily assignments of operating airfield paint truck, UHP water-blaster, walk behind paint machines, runway friction tester, and include operating street sweepers, flushers, and several types of snow removal equipment. Also assist other crews with patching and resurfacing asphalt pavement, crack filling, litter removal, airfield mowing, heavy equipment operations, and other miscellaneous repairs.
• Monitor and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned employees by assigning, directing, and participating in their daily work.  Ensure crew members follow safety rules and regulations. Keep the supervisor fully informed about crew operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent plus five years of experience
• 2-Year College Degree plus three years of experience

Required Licenses or Certifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for a City driving permit.
• Ability to acquire Movement Area Training (MAT) endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Valid CDL-A with no more than 6 points or the ability to obtain within one year from the date of employment. Tanker vehicle endorsement or the ability to obtain within one year from the date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

High school graduation/GED plus five years’ experience in pavement striping/maintenance and general construction, or Associate’s Degree and three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work/industry/military/job specific experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties.  Supervisory experience preferred. Must be familiar with or have the ability to become familiar with the FAA Part 139 standard requirements for the airfield environment and TSA airport security requirements.
