Summary
Performs intermediate technical work performing various duties related to the efficient operation of the county-run airport, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Airport Director.Examples of duties
- Greets and assists air travelers upon arrival; provides customer service to arriving and departing pilots and passengers; assists passengers in procuring rental vehicles.
- Provides information on airport weather conditions, fueling options, and directions to parking areas.
- Helps secure aircraft; operates fuel dispensing trucks.
- Performs safety checks on runways and taxiways.
- Performs light general and preventative maintenance on buildings, grounds and equipment; performs landscape maintenance.
- Responds to crashes and airfield accidents; performs firefighting duties and first aid, and secures the immediate area to ensure safety.
- Collects and applies rents; receives requests for maintenance from tenants; monitors properties to ensure rules and codes are being complied with.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- General knowledge of the common practices, tools and terminology used in repairing and maintaining buildings.
- General knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials.
- General knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the work.
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of various types of office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, document scanner, multi-line telephone system, etc.).
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel and the public.
Supplemental information
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three (1-3) years of experience in related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid driver’s license
