About the role:

The Data Scientist position will use advanced analytical methodologies to solve critical and complicated business problems. This person will be a true utility player and get a chance to practice a wide-range of data science, ranging from: exploratory data analysis of credit and tradeline data, data profiling of current and potential customers, propose strategies for optimizing underwriting and offer strategy, building predictive models to assess creditworthiness and likelihood of default, detect fraud and other anomalies, and more.

You Will: 

• Utilize statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and predictive modeling to extract valuable insights from large-scale financial and customer data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, to identify business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
• Develop and deploy advanced analytical models to optimize credit risk assessment, customer segmentation, pricing strategies, and other lending-related processes.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, supporting the development of new lending products and risk management strategies.
• Design and implement experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate the effectiveness of new initiatives, providing actionable recommendations based on data-driven findings.
• Work with the engineering team to design data pipelines, ensure data quality and integrity, and streamline the data extraction and transformation processes.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and financial technologies, and apply them to improve lending practices and enhance business outcomes.

You Have: 

• Bachelor's in degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years experience as a Data Scientist, preferably at a startup or in the lending/financial services industry.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and predictive modeling using open-source programming languages such as Python or R.
• Strong knowledge of data manipulation, feature engineering, and model validation techniques.
• Experience with SQL and database querying to extract and transform large datasets.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to communicate complex insights effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with big data frameworks, cloud platforms, and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
