Director, Platform COE

Position Overview: As the Director of our Platform Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our company's infrastructure and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. You will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and provide a robust and efficient technology infrastructure for our organization. 

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Strategy and Planning: 
• Assist in the development of our infrastructure roadmap and oversee is execution. 
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align infrastructure plans with business goals and objectives. 
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the infrastructure remains cutting-edge and scalable. 
• Team Leadership and Management: 
• Lead and manage database and SRE teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. 
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team. 
• Define team goals, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations. 
• Infrastructure Design and Implementation: 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define infrastructure requirements for new projects and initiatives. 
• Develop and implement infrastructure best practices, standards, and procedures. 
• System Reliability and Performance: 
• Establish and maintain service level objectives (SLOs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for database and site reliability engineering. 
• Incident Management and Problem Resolution: 
• Lead incident management efforts, ensuring prompt resolution of infrastructure-related incidents. 
• Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences. 
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. 
• Vendor Management: 
• Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors, ensuring timely delivery and quality of services. 
• Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor performance. 
• Collaboration and Communication: 
• Collaborate with other technology leaders and stakeholders to align infrastructure plans with overall technology strategy. 
• Communicate effectively with executive leadership and provide regular updates on infrastructure and SRE initiatives, challenges, and accomplishments. 

Requirements

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve exceptional results.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). 
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
