Description

Boone Memorial Health is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Retail Pharmacy Technician to join our Comfort Pharmacy team in Comfort, WV. In this full-time role, you’ll work alongside pharmacists to support the preparation and dispensing of medications while ensuring friendly, professional service to patients. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting inventory, and ensuring a smooth, patient-centered experience.

Who We Are

Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is a growing, rural Critical Access Health System based in Madison, West Virginia. At the center of our organization is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. We serve our community through a network of outpatient clinics and specialty services throughout Boone County and the surrounding region. Our mission is rooted in providing high-quality, compassionate care—ensuring patients have access to essential health services close to home.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid, active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license with the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs)

Preferred:

  • Prior retail pharmacy experience

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications for pharmacist review and final dispensing

  • Accurately input and maintain prescription and patient data

  • Provide courteous customer service at the counter, drive-thru, and via phone

  • Restock shelves and check inventory for expired or low-supply medications

  • Accept deliveries and reconcile vendor shipments

  • Operate cash register and ensure HIPAA compliance

  • Collaborate with BMH providers and clinic staff

  • Maintain pharmacy records and patient profiles

  • Utilize CPSI to retrieve demographic and insurance information

  • Support physical inventory and maintain a clean, organized work environment

  • Assist with other assigned duties as directed by pharmacy leadership
