Title: Converting Lead

Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our converting department during the third shift. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in converting operations, and a commitment to ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the production process. As the Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of operators, coordinating production schedules, and maintaining equipment to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations during the third shift.


Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and motivate a team of converting operators to achieve production targets and quality standards.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
Production Management:
  • Coordinate production schedules and prioritize workload to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, minimize downtime, and maximize output.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance staff for timely repairs and maintenance.
Quality Assurance:
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of finished products and provide feedback to operators for quality improvement.
  • Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Safety Compliance:
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses, and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain effective communication channels with other shifts, departments, and management to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
  • Collaborate with other team leads and supervisors to address cross-functional issues and drive overall departmental success.
  • Act as a liaison between management and frontline employees, conveying feedback, concerns, and suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of production processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and production management software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Physical Exertion: 100% of the day, i.e. when sitting (10%), standing (20%), and walking (40%) while conducting work activities; lifting (10%) more than 25lbs, climbing stairs and ladders (5%); pushing and pulling (10%) more than 25lbs; and while sweeping/mopping (5%)

Auditory Concentration: Not applicable

Dexterity Requirements: 40% of the day, i.e. when writing and recording production reports; cutting fabric; using small hand tools such as utility knives, wrenches, and screwdrivers; sorting product; adjusting gauges; keyboarding/typing on the machine's computer, filing plant orders and quality reports; and when operating machinery such as the crane, pallet jack, conveyor, and shaft puller.

Visual Concentration: 100% of the day, i.e. when observing word and numbers on the computer screen; inspecting product and equipment; monitoring dials, gauges, and equipment; color matching; and when reading plant orders an
