We are looking for a Cloud & Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing cloud platform and operations team. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting the adoption of cloud operations best practices with particular emphasis on infrastructure as code (IaC), monitoring/alerting, and operational testing.  The ideal candidate is capable of hands-on keyboard implementations as well as enabling colleagues to be able to do things the right way without undue friction.  They must be comfortable supporting the needs of multiple teams, domains, systems, and products. 

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

• Support monitoring and alerting solutions for our cloud systems in a secure and scalable manner
• Implement and manage infrastructure automation through IaC (infrastructure as code) solutions.
• Provide admin on-call coverage for our critical cloud systems
• Support for our GitLab implementation including deployment and CI/CD pipeline infrastructure
• Perform operationally focused testing of our cloud infrastructure and deployed applications (e.g. disaster recovery, security, etc)
• Work with service owners to help implement effective monitoring, alerting, and response strategies
• Facilitate incident response, blameless postmortems, and root cause analyses with the aim of continuously improving the resilience of our production systems
• Help teams define Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to drive better monitoring and management of issues
• Work with cross-functional teams to strive for greater robustness of our cloud systems

Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant field
• 1+ years of experience managing cloud systems, preferably on AWS
• Strength in monitoring and logging for production cloud systems
• Comfortable working in Linux environments (including shell scripting)
• Experience working with Git version control
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of observability concepts and best practices
• Familiarity with containerization including building, managing, and deploying container images
• Experience building infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions
• Production operations experience including tracking issues and change control, SLA response, working with security requirements, and collaborating to maintain secure production environments
• Proven ability to learn new technologies as needed

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

• Comfortable developing scripts and applications in Python and/or TypeScript
• Familiarity with JavaScript/Node
• Experience with AWS CDK
• Experience with observability platforms such as New Relic, DataDog, or Grafana
• Experience configuring and managing Kubernetes clusters
• Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Fargate
