Job Description

  • Proactively initiate new development leads and owner/developer relationships; qualify those leads and then execute upon the opportunity to secure new management and license agreements;
  • Represent the company as an initial development inquiry contact for PME  brands;
  • Be an expert on the PME brands to be able to effectively represent them in development of pitches/presentations and underwriting/evaluation, by being able to articulate the key features and points of differentiation;
  • Liaison with affiliate company leadership to ensure alignment on development objectives and opportunities;
  • Generate, sustain and manage a solid flow of new leads into the deal pipeline;
  • Be the primary point of contact with developers and owners on new opportunities throughout the development deal cycle including prospecting, qualifying, brand recommendation, due diligence and underwriting, letter of intent negotiation, definitive agreement negotiation and transition to operations;
  • Be the primary point of contact with internal stakeholders on new opportunities throughout the development deal cycle including securing project support, Design & Technical Services engagement, at times leading and other times overseeing pro forma underwriting for managed opportunities, coordination with Legal on negotiation of letter of intent and definitive agreement, coordinating review of underwriting with sales & marketing, finance and operations, and securing required approvals including investment committee;
  • Upon execution of agreements, facilitate a smooth transition to operations;
  • Develop pitch materials and responses to requests for proposal for prospective deals with support of development analyst team;
  • Keep development pipeline tracking software updated and meet regularly with Vice President, Development on projects under development and new development leads;
  • Support Vice President, Development in developing and executing on the development strategy for the region;
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the brands to be represented and be able to articulate the key features to prospective clients;
  • Have a clear understanding and knowledge of the benefits and strengths of the operating capabilities and centralized services of the company.

Qualifications

  • Financial or business oriented university degree, MBA or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of development, financial analysis, asset management, real estate, banking or consulting experience.
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills.
  • Detail-oriented – attention to detail and accuracy is crucial.
  • Must be able to handle many tasks accurately, in a rapidly changing environment, against a backdrop of time/work load pressures.
  • Expert skills with Excel, Word & PowerPoint are mandatory, as are strong writing and communication skills.
  • Familiar with Smith Travel Research (STR), CBRE Reports.
  • Thorough understanding of hospitality industry.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English, as well as negotiation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
