Title Recreational Leader
Department(s) Teaching Staff
Reports to School-Age Supervisor and Site Director
Job Summary: The Recreational Leader is responsible for ensuring school-age students are having fun! They implement the planned curriculum, following the individualized Lesson Plan and provide support while on field trips. The position is responsible for active engagement with the children during indoor activities and a robust physical activity program during outdoor time. Follows all requirements of Community Cares Licensing; along with our Local, State and Federal contracts.
Summary of essential job functions:
Recreational Duties:
- Support with set-up and maintenance of engaging classroom environments following SACERS
- Implement age-appropriate activities identified on the weekly Lesson Plans
- Organize games, activities, crafts, wood-working, music, science projects and cooking activities
- Plan and implement opportunities for theater production
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the children
- Support with the implementation of an anti-bullying campaign
- Attend field trips and support the staff over-seeing a group; help carry and retrieve supplies/meals
- Plan short-term and long-term projects (science, 3D art, sewing, cooking, etc)
- Provide homework and tutoring services during on-track session
- Document activities and field trips through photos, videos and anecdotal notes
- Implement physical activities outdoors and promote a healthy lifestyle
Daily Operations:
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean and well maintained
- Follow the Caring Series to ensure children and the environment are safe and healthy
- Serve meals following the CACFP guidelines, including family-style meals

Requirements
Minimum requirements
Must be 17 years old or older and be super FUN
High school diploma OR in your Senior Year of high school
Experience with tutoring, planning school age activities, summer camps, and special events.
Transportation to and from work, and possible field trip locations
Passionate in working with all ages 5-12.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, sit and stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds to support children
Ability to bend and squat to interact with children
Ability to engage in physical activities with children, including extended walking on field trips

Health Status
Must have a physical examination and TB clearance as required by state and federal regulations.
Background Clearance
All positions are subject to a background/education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources. Note: California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client. Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.
