The Role

Join a supportive, mission driven team shaping how GM meets the challenges of global CO₂ compliance and sustainable mobility. In this role, you’ll build a deep expertise of the big picture strategy and the detailed impacts of fuel economy and emissions across our global portfolio. You will shape how GM meets the challenges of global CO₂ compliance and sustainable mobility.

You will contribute insights and solutions for complex issues that influence high visibility decisions, help guide future technologies, and strengthen GM’s leadership in sustainable transportation. What You'll Do

Model Long Term Compliance Outlook

  • Model global CO₂ and related regulatory compliance projections using standardized templates and aligned global processes.
  • Develop compliance impacts and solutions for programs and products across major regions.
  • Expertly create scenario analysis to evaluate regulatory changes, technology timing, market shifts, profitability initiatives and competitive influences.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and potential compliance pathways using data driven approaches.
  • Analyze how engineering and portfolio changes impact compliance.
  • Continuously improve the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of model data, calculations and reporting.

Strategic Insights & Recommendations

  • Provide clear, actionable insights to CO₂ strategists, cross-functional workgroups program teams, and senior leaders.
  • Independently work on complex compliance and modeling issues and assignments requiring conceptual analysis and original approaches, exercising independent judgment in methods and assumptions.
  • Recommend strategies that balance regulatory compliance, profitability, competitive positioning, and customer value.
  • Communicate complex detailed findings in simple and persuasive ways that makes topics easy to understand.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with product planning, engineering, finance, and regional compliance teams to champion global CO₂ strategies.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Energy Integration on emerging technologies and benchmarking activities.
  • Work with Competitive Intelligence to ensure model projections reflect the latest competitive and industry trends.
  • Contribute to a team culture rooted in support, learning, and shared success.
  • Mentor and teach junior staff and collaborating teams on compliance strategies and processes.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Understanding of vehicle efficient fuel economy
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Excel, Visual Basic, Power Query, SQL, and/or Power BI for organizing and analyzing data.
  • Comfort navigating SharePoint or similar systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to create clear, visually appealing presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with fuel-economy technologies or CO₂/GHG compliance concepts.
  • Experience with emissions certification or other regulatory frameworks (e.g., safety, environmental compliance) is welcome.
  • Experience with vehicle program development (VDP) or energy processes is helpful but not required.
  • Understanding of the competitive automotive landscape and industry strategies

  • DFSS Black Belt certification
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
