Senior / Staff Energy and Range Attribute Engineer

At Zoox we have set the goal to provide our customers with a premium ride experience when using our fully autonomous vehicles. The introduction of self-driving technologies and other unique characteristics of mobility-as-a-service presents several opportunities in the energy management field.  You will work with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds such as robotics, control, and vehicle engineering. 
The role is to lead energy management for a complete vehicle and the robotaxi fleet. From the vehicle side, you will be working with electrical powertrain, high voltage battery, thermal, low voltage systems, computing and all advanced systems used in autonomous driving. From the robotaxi fleet perspective, you will be working with the strategy and operations team to forecast and optimize driving range. You will lead the energy team and work cross-functionally to drive end to end energy strategies implementation.

In this role, you will

• Lead highly technical capable energy team.
• Develop and communicate strategies for the full vehicle energy management such as sub-system operation points, energy saving features, thermal integration, driving cycles and others.
• Cascade energy strategy requirements to the various subsystems
• Cooperate with advanced hardware, thermal and powertrain teams for energy efficient solutions and integration.
• Lead energy simulation and testing activities, including validation and model correlation.
• Integrate Energy model in Zoox simulation environment for end to end range simulation. 
• Monitor Energy roadmap as the company evolves to provide robotaxi service.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field
• 15+ yrs solid experience in vehicle energy management 
• Experience in energy simulation and testing

CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $185,000 to $307,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
